Choosing the Right Colour for Your Spa Cover
Selecting the perfect colour for your new spa cover is a personal decision. What looks great to one person might not suit another’s style or setting. Some customers know exactly what they want, while others prefer a little guidance — so, if you fall into the latter group, here’s what we’ve learned from years of experience.

Slate Grey — Our Most Popular Choice
By far, Slate Grey (Charcoal) is the most popular colour among our customers, with around 90% choosing it for their spa covers. There are a few reasons for that:

  • It’s a modern, timeless shade that complements most outdoor areas.
  • It’s neutral, meaning it won’t clash with your décor or surroundings.
  • It’s on-trend — dark, contemporary tones have replaced the greens and tans that were once in fashion.

The only downside? Slate Grey can show more dust and dirt than lighter colours. Many assume light shades like beige will highlight every mark, but in reality, beige tends to disguise everyday dust far better — just like how a light-coloured car stays looking cleaner longer than a dark one.

Match Your Surroundings, Not the Spa
Remember, once your cover is on, the spa’s shell colour disappears from view. You’ll only see the cover and its surroundings. That’s why we recommend matching your cover colour to your outdoor décor, not the inside of the spa.

When Blue Works
Blue spa covers can look striking — but they work best when they’re part of a coordinated setting. To keep your space cohesive, ensure there are other blue elements nearby such as pots, cushions, or trims. This subtle repetition of colour helps tie everything together beautifully.

A Note on Burgundy
All vinyl materials will fade gradually when exposed to the sun, even premium marine-grade vinyl. Of all colours, reds fade the fastest, so if you’re drawn to Burgundy (Port Royal or Wine), be aware that it will naturally shift toward brown over time with sun exposure.

Light Grey — The Underrated Option
While Light Grey doesn’t get as much attention as Slate Grey, it deserves it. Over the past few decades, we’ve installed thousands of covers, and Light Grey consistently delivers a clean, modern look — especially when paired with complementary surroundings. It’s a subtle, sophisticated choice that’s often overlooked but always impressive.
